Up With The Sun

Up before the sun I finished this sunrise inspired by a view from my own front yard, of the Banning pass. Of course I took artistic liberties. I prefer to paint on canvas it seems to offer me more control somehow but I am satisfied with this Acrylic on paper 18x 20..Need to pop it in a frame I am on my way to the gallery.

I painted a few Christmas Cards this week end. I was not in the mood to paint so these whimsical less detailed items were perfect for my mood. I did or started 1/2 a dozen of the 4.5x5.5 acrylics on hard paper. This frist batch will sell for $5 each.

A bit of a change in Painting

Not in the mood for the detailed work of my eagle, I have decided to paint some suitable for framing Christmas cards for the show in Dec. Pulling out the metalics for shine 4.5x 6 cards I can sell $5.00-$50.00 with inexpensive framing. Acrylic paint on paper is the plan. I have been sketching ideas this morning and now time to get back to it. The eagle is beside me and who knows tonight i might be ready for some feather action...Keep smiling!

Today was full of ups and downs it was actually a very luck day. Unfortunately, I did not feel well enough to really enjoy it. It has however, ended with me doing what I love, as I started a new painting. As I began drawing in the foundation, I had a brief panic of OM what am I attempting now? My first instinct was to match a mirror image of the bird in the water. That would be wrong. Reflections are different and change all the more by viewpoint and personal perception. Well, I made it through the drawing portion and I covered the bird with frisket so tomorrow I can lay in the background of water. I am both afraid and exhilarated...afraid of failure what if I mess it up and exhilarated to know it really doesn't matter this is what I love to do..it is all about learning. Unlike the many recipes for great dishes that I have let go by the way side, I am trying to record how I make, create each piece. This attempt so that perhaps I can one achieve that my greatest of all: the I will they will call MASTERPIECE.

Well, Life is Good! as always..(no matter what) I have been working on my website Talents2share.com I did prepped several canvases yesterday with gesso Both black and white ones are now ready for a good run. I found the most perfect picture of a bald eagle. I have several photos that I have shot but this reflection is just what i desire to paint. I also spent a great deal of time re photo shooting my paintings for the web site. A busy week so far. Now that they are all photog'd to perfection (at least as far as i am going to take it) off they go to galleries to hang and sale. I also booked in a Christmas show/sale Dec 1. All this and looking for a job too! What a busy week so far. Well here is a pic of Passionate sunrise. Ok i did not photog toperfection YET! Tomorrow i will finish it's framing and rephoto shoot. It is just stuck in the frame right now but i think i like this frame requires a bit of a cut down to 8X10 Price $50.00 what do you think? Let me know!

This is my daily painting, I am mostly just experimenting in photo shooting, my glass framed watercolors, with my digital. The water colors are the most difficult for me to photograph (particularly after framing. Reflection and color changes happen with my digital. As much as I love the old 35mm, I am determined to make it work. I made a shine shield with a hole just big enough for my lens, which i rubber band into place. You can see in the photo where just above the fish, the reflection still is. That is my shield line So much to learn in my pursuit of happiness. BUT! I will succeed!

After the Perfect Storm

Well, I have finally dug my way out of the dust storm. As much as I wanted to go help the firestorm victims I realized I had my own dilemma to overcome. My prayers are unfortunately all I can offer at this moment. My need for employment, so that we can pay our bills also had to top my list. The Month and a half i spent in the south east after Katrina did teach me many things. I learned how good it feels to help others but also not to exceed what i can afford to give. Not only did i give away our retirement but my health suffered as i came home only because i became to sick to work any more...every moment of the day was spent with a cough drop in my mouth I was around many sick and coughing people. One evening as we dished out the dinner to 1500 people I thought i was having a heart attack (dummy me i just traded places in the line to a slowing moving give them a piece of fruit section) it turned out that I had pneumonia, which cause the severe chest pains. It was another month of recovery health wise and monetarily i have yet to recover...But i regret very little 3 months of work gone 30k in saving money gone...was it worth it. YES! Quite honestly that experience aided to my decision to try and do what I love. Even if i am no longer making 125k a year, even if I do not have savings or even health insurance, even if we struggle to the pay the bills, it was truly one of the most satisfying times of my life and i am happier now than i have been in years. Not missing the high stressed fast pace career i was in I have been Taken back to a simpler time: the struggling years of my youth and making the best of the little things. Sure i miss money the things it would bring...but i also know the value of a dollar now, before i valued it as a penny i could drop and not chase it in the wind. Times for me have changed. Appreciation for life has new meaning. I have seen poor... and even if i wind up poor white trash living in a trailer...I will be the best poor white trash i can be because Life is Good! (no matter what)

Out of the Dust

Well it is slow and tendious cleaning up after the dust storm but I count my blessings We may be breathing smoke along with the rest of southern California but we still have out home and belongs in this moment. I am hoping to get back to painting tonight yeah! Amazing how much i miss it when i can not get to it. some may sit and watch TV at night I sit and paint while my hubby watches TV..lol here is a few pics of the dust we experienced. Remember to count your lucky...

Bozo the Nebulas

One thing I really want to get into painting, is Nebulas. These were inspiredbyactual nebulas events. The first one is a small card.

The second one is 12"x12" black paper and acrylic paint. I call it the Bozo Nebulas. Good ole Bozo the clown: Red hair, twinkle in his eyes.

I love nebulas and will do more paintings of these forms.

Thin Ice

During this unbelievable wind and fire storm here in So. California...I elected to paint this. My prayers go out to all that have been displaced and lost their homes. I am going to make some calls in the morning to see if i can help somehow. I know the time to help is now not later. I need to go find a job too!!! However, I seem to have misplaced my resume..Yes painting is the that job I love but I must pay the bills.

Fires are everywhere, 9 here in So Calif.... You will see some on the news I am sure, if your not one of us lucky S. Californians...constant wind 50-75mph where we r at ... non stop since last night...walking outside is to eat/enhale/get.in.eyes S***... My dogs walk up to their doggy door and then come over to me or look at me like I am supposed to do something...had to walk outside with them this morning. My hopes r with all the people having to leave their homes tonight and the ones whose homes have burnt down ... we r still fortunate...we will be OK no matter what.
heres today's almost painting ... no where near done spent 3 days on it already(BUT IT'S LARGER!(what an excuse lol)) well not much the first daybut the second i kept thinking it didn't look much difbut again i didn't spend a very long time on itbut now hours of tiny brushes and details to the background and now the larger treesI might just make it...still have quite a bit of work on the right trees,water and it's banks and of course finishing the snow, including what will be in the trees...but....

I have always loved to draw

I am certain that my passion to draw must have started before Kindergarten, but we didn't have pre-school way back then "Youngins'. I can remember searching my Mom's magazines for the perfect picture to draw, usually some models face. As my artistic endeavors changed with time I was hooked on drawing the multitude of Shanties and Canyons as my parents would load their 6 kids in the motor home to travel across the southwest part of the country. It usually was an adventure for them to visit their Midwestern roots planted in the field and ranches of North Platte Nebraska. When I didn't have a pencil I could always find a stick to burn and being the good Girl Scout I was, (or just lucky) I never burned anything down, I still use the burn method as pictured in the campfire charcol drawing with this post ... If i can get it to load that is
